Plant-Based Nothingness
Plant-Based Nothingness is a conceptual art piece by artist Patrice Fogholm that explores the quiet collapse of human-centric existence and the illusion of control over life, time, and consequence.
The work suggests a world beyond the end, a space where life has disappeared and the question of blame lingers in the silence. It considers the possibility that what we perceive as direction or intention may be nothing more than the aftershocks of instinct and evolutionary chance.
The sound design by e.Trash evokes a subtle atmosphere of decay and suspension. Composed of fragile textures, sonic voids, and slowly shifting tonalities, the sound functions as a sensory residue - the trace of something lost or no longer needed.
Accompanying the work is a video piece by Magnus Odgaard, which visually extends the concept through abstract, contemplative imagery. The moving image component reflects the temporal fragility of the installation, deepening its sense of stillness and estrangement.
Together, the elements form an immersive environment where time seems paused and meaning quietly dissolves.
“Today,” the work whispers without words, “we celebrate the life and death of life.”
